Antek wirkt noch recht unsicher, aber im Kreis seiner erzkonservativen Bruderschaft fühlt er sich stark. Ihre Werte wie Männlichkeit, Katholizismus und ein traditionelles Familienbild geben ihm Sicherheit und wenn er mit seinen Kumpels gemeinsam gegen LGBTQ+-Demos protestiert, ist er als Vorsänger ganz in seinem Element. Erst durch eine feste Freundin lernt er andere Sichtweisen kennen – dass man nicht zwingend einen Gott braucht, um ein rechtschaffener Mensch zu sein, dass man tolerant gegenüber anderen Lebensstilen sein kann und dass Sex vor der Ehe vielleicht doch nicht unweigerlich in die ewige Verdammnis führt.
Über einen langen Zeitraum begleitet die Regisseurin ihren Protagonisten und dokumentiert dabei eine erstaunliche Entwicklung. Nicht nur, dass der hagere, fromme junge Mann auf einmal Meditation, Drogen und Bodybuilding für sich entdeckt. Auch seine Sicht auf die Welt und nicht zuletzt auf sich selbst durchläuft eine grundlegende Metamorphose. Aber wie kompatibel ist dieser neue Antek noch mit seinem sozialen Umfeld, das nach wie vor fleißig betet und ein Kind nach dem anderen in die Welt setzt?
Hanna Nobis erzählt eine Geschichte mit überraschenden Wendungen, die man unmöglich in einem Drehbuch vorausplanen kann. Die Kamera bleibt dabei stets nah an ihrem Beobachtungsgegenstand und wird für ihre Geduld belohnt: Der Film hält immer wieder intime Momente von berückender Authentizität fest, wie sie im Dokumentarfilm selten sind.

Light is a fascinating phenomenon. Without light, there would be no cinema, no film – and no life. So light is at the origin of everything, and yet it remains invisible to the eye until it hits matter. This moment is – quite literally – the starting point of Thomas Riedelsheimer’s latest work, for the springtime spectacle of rainbow shreds in the cinematographer and documentary filmmaker’s flat became the starting point of a search for the origin of the images we form of this world. For this quest he dived deep into two spheres that seem to follow different laws but always strive to fathom the magical: physics and art. An intellectual and poetic ping pong game evolves between researchers from the Max Planck Institute in Erlangen and the “Extreme Light Group” of the University of Glasgow as well as internationally renowned artists such as Ruth Jarman, Joe Gerhardt, Julie Brook, Johannes Brunner and Raimund Ritz. In its course, the various perspectives on light lead to new insights on all sides that would hardly have been achieved without this methodical cross-over: about laser power and colour pigments, about black holes and floating sculptures. In brief moments, the uninitiated may even get some idea of the laws of quantum physics, generally considered impossible to visualise.
