A film by Rebecca Hirneise. On Nov, 12th 8pm at the im fsk.
[Tickets]
The documentary film premieres that have been presented in succession over the past ten years at the Arsenal at Potsdamer Platz will now continue as part of Arsenal on Location in and with the fsk cinema at Oranienplatz – an obvious collaboration, as contemporary documentary filmmaking also holds a regular place in the program there. The series continues on 12 November with ZWISCHEN UNS GOTT (God Between Us, Austria 2024) by Rebecca Hirneise.
In a small town in Southern Germany, a discussion group sits in a circle of chairs, initiated by Rebecca Hirneise for her debut film: it consists of her mother, uncle and aunts. After years of silence and deliberate distancing, she, the non-believer, wants to talk to her devout relatives (except for her mother) about their respective interpretations of the Christian faith in her dual role as filmmaker and family member. The calm observation of tense conversation constellations, supplemented by Hirneise’s diary notes from off-screen and Super 8 film footage of her grandfather, provides insight into a world that knows God, conflicts and hurt, but no doubts. (Birgit Kohler) The film screening will be followed by a discussion with director Rebecca Hirneise, moderated by Birgit Kohler (Arsenal).
