A father (Sergi López) and his son arri­ve at a rave deep in the moun­ta­ins of sou­thern Morocco. They’re sear­ching for Mar — daugh­ter and sis­ter — who vanis­hed months ago at one of the­se end­less, slee­p­less par­ties. Surrounded by elec­tro­nic music and a raw, unfa­mi­li­ar sen­se of free­dom, they hand out her pho­to again and again. Hope is fading but they push through and fol­low a group of ravers hea­ding to one last par­ty in the desert. As they ven­ture deeper into the bur­ning wil­der­ness, the jour­ney forces them to con­front their own limits.

United by the unex­pec­ted inhe­ri­tance of a house in Normandy, four estran­ged cou­sins dis­co­ver their fami­ly histo­ry. While explo­ring the house, left untouch­ed sin­ce the 1940s, they excava­te the life of their ances­tor, Adèle Vermillard, a 20 year old woman who lived the­re in 1895. The end of the 19th cen­tu­ry saw the birth of both pho­to­gra­phy and the Impressionist move­ment, which pro­found­ly chan­ged pain­ting.
Through back-and-forth jour­neys bet­ween 1895 and 2025, they find in the relics of the past what will help them bet­ter envi­si­on their own future.

Die seit zehn Jahren in loser Folge im Arsenal am Potsdamer Platz prä­sen­tier­ten Dokumentarfilmpremieren wer­den im Rahmen von Arsenal on Location im und mit dem fsk Kino am Oranienplatz wei­ter­ge­führt – eine nahe­lie­gen­de Kooperation, weil auch dort das zeit­ge­nös­si­sche Dokumentarfilmschaffen einen fes­ten Platz im Programm hat.
Die Reihe wird im September mit PERSONALE (IT/AT 2024) von Carmen Trocker fort­ge­setzt.
Schauplatz des Dokumentarfilms Personale von Carmen Trocker ist ein Vier-Sterne-Familienhotel in den Südtiroler Dolomiten, genau­er gesagt: der Bauch die­ses Ressorts, wo sich die haus­ei­ge­ne Wäscherei befin­det. Dort, im Untergeschoss, ist eine Crew über­wie­gend migran­ti­scher Arbeitskräfte am Werk, die das Haus tag­täg­lich sau­ber hält. Die meis­ten davon sind Frauen; sie kom­men aus Mali, aus Rumänien, aus Elfenbeinküste, aus der Ukraine usw.
Der Film hat kein Interesse an Äußerlichkeiten. Man bekommt weder das Hotel als Ganzes noch des­sen Gäste zu sehen, und statt der schö­nen Gegend zeigt die Kamera nur zer­wühlt zurück­ge­las­se­ne Bettlandschaften, die aus­se­hen wie tief ver­schnei­te Gebirgsformationen. Sie rich­tet ihren Blick dort­hin, wo Urlaubende nicht hin­schau­en, und beglei­tet das Housekeeping-Team bei sei­nen täg­li­chen Routinen: dem Putzen, Plätten, Polieren. (Diagonale)
