A petrol sta\u00adti\u00adon at an Atlanta inter\u00adsec\u00adtion. A pri\u00adva\u00adte estate in Bowling Green, Kentucky, com\u00adple\u00adte with a per\u00adfect lawn. The front yard of a fami\u00adly home in Connecticut. At first glan\u00adce, the places Irene Lusztig cho\u00adse to visit on her two-year jour\u00adney through the United States seem unre\u00admar\u00adkab\u00adle. At each stop, Lusztig had local women read out and com\u00adment on let\u00adters from the archi\u00adve of libe\u00adral femi\u00adnist maga\u00adzi\u00adne \u201cMs.\u201d. These let\u00adters were ori\u00adgi\u00adnal\u00adly sent around 40 years ago in respon\u00adse to artic\u00adles in the maga\u00adzi\u00adne, ser\u00adving also as out\u00adlets for their wri\u00adters, main\u00adly women, to share their per\u00adso\u00adnal sto\u00adries \u2013 with inti\u00adma\u00adcy and can\u00addour, at times full of reli\u00adef, at other rage. The let\u00adters recount expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adces of abor\u00adti\u00adons or les\u00adbi\u00adan affairs with mar\u00adried women and rail against the magazine\u2019s igno\u00adrance of what real life meant for black women.
\nIrene Lusztig\u2019s docu\u00admen\u00adta\u00adry set-up suc\u00adceeds in brin\u00adging a wealth of expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adces from an ear\u00adlier gene\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon of the femi\u00adnist move\u00adment into a com\u00adplex dia\u00adlo\u00adgue with the pre\u00adsent. The writ\u00adten word only appears to be at the fore, bey\u00adond it, the\u00adre lies a who\u00adle uni\u00adver\u00adse of femi\u00adnism for the view\u00ader to dis\u00adco\u00adver, which Yours in Sisterhood<\/em> makes acces\u00adsi\u00adble on many levels.<\/p>\n
