The German tro\u00adops are just out\u00adside Paris. Georg escapes to Marseille at the last moment. His lug\u00adga\u00adge con\u00adta\u00adins the lega\u00adcy of a wri\u00adter named Weidel, who took his own life out of fear of per\u00adse\u00adcu\u00adti\u00adon. This lega\u00adcy com\u00adpri\u00adses a manu\u00adscript, some let\u00adters and the Mexican Embassy\u2019s assu\u00adrance of a visa. Only tho\u00adse who can pro\u00adve that they will lea\u00adve are allo\u00adwed in this port town, and this means you need an ent\u00adry per\u00admit from a poten\u00adti\u00adal host coun\u00adtry. Assuming the iden\u00adti\u00adty of Weidel, Georg tri\u00ades to obtain one of the few scar\u00adce pas\u00adsa\u00adges on a ship. Talks bet\u00adween refu\u00adgees take place in the cor\u00adri\u00addors of his small hotel, the wai\u00adting rooms of con\u00adsu\u00adla\u00adtes, and the caf\u00e9s and bars down at the har\u00adbour. Georg befri\u00adends Driss, the son of his late com\u00adra\u00adde Heinz, who died whilst try\u00ading to flee. But when he meets the mys\u00adte\u00adrious Marie, his plans chan\u00adge. Transit is based on Anna Seghers\u2019 epony\u00admous novel which she wro\u00adte in exi\u00adle. The film is set in con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adry Marseille whe\u00adre the\u00adse cha\u00adrac\u00adters from the past move around. And so, refu\u00adgees from back then meet refu\u00adgees from today, histo\u00adry meets the pre\u00adsent, and all of their sto\u00adries com\u00adbi\u00adne to crea\u00adte one eter\u00adnal tran\u00adsit space.<\/p>\n
