Retired civil engi\u00adneer Duszejko lives a secluded life in a moun\u00adtain vil\u00adla\u00adge clo\u00adse to the bor\u00adder bet\u00adween Poland and the Czech Republic. She is cha\u00adris\u00adma\u00adtic and eccen\u00adtric, a pas\u00adsio\u00adna\u00adte astro\u00adlo\u00adger and a strict vege\u00adta\u00adri\u00adan. One day her bel\u00adoved dogs dis\u00adap\u00adpear. On a sno\u00adwy winter\u2019s night short\u00adly after\u00adwards she dis\u00adco\u00advers the dead body of her neigh\u00adbour and, next to it, deer tracks. More men die in a simi\u00adlar\u00adly mys\u00adte\u00adrious way. All of them were pil\u00adlars of the vil\u00adla\u00adge com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty, and all were pas\u00adsio\u00adna\u00adte hun\u00adters. Were the\u00adse men kil\u00adled by wild ani\u00admals? Or has someone been pro\u00advo\u00adked to pur\u00adsue a bloo\u00addy ven\u00addet\u00adta? At some point Duszejko hers\u00adelf comes under suspicion \u2026
\nAfter her foray into the realm of seria\u00adli\u00adsed dra\u00adma, Agnieszka Holland returns to the big screen with a sub\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adve thril\u00adler. Pokot <\/em>is set in a land\u00adscape of chan\u00adging sea\u00adsons; howe\u00adver, the wild beau\u00adty of the coun\u00adtry\u00adsi\u00adde can\u00adnot hide the cor\u00adrupt natu\u00adre, cruel\u00adty and stu\u00adpi\u00addi\u00adty of the peo\u00adp\u00adle who live the\u00adre. Deeply roo\u00adted in the rea\u00adli\u00adty of rural Poland, the film is as anar\u00adchic as its heroi\u00adne, and bold\u00adly mixes gen\u00adres \u2013 from humo\u00adrous detec\u00adti\u00adve sto\u00adry to exci\u00adting eco-thril\u00adler to femi\u00adnist fairy-tale.<\/p>\n
