The film opens with far\u00admers in the USA<\/span>. Here, every year, the fields are spray\u00aded with mil\u00adli\u00adons of ton\u00adnes of \u201cRoundup\u201d, a pesti\u00adci\u00adde who\u00adse main acti\u00adve ingre\u00addi\u00adent is the che\u00admi\u00adcal gly\u00adpho\u00adsa\u00adte. Multinational che\u00admi\u00adcal com\u00adpa\u00adnies mar\u00adket Roundup for use with plants which are gene\u00adti\u00adcal\u00adly modi\u00adfied to be resistant to it. The idea is that far\u00admers can app\u00adly the poi\u00adson to lar\u00adge swa\u00adthes of farm\u00adland, kil\u00adling ever\u00ady\u00adthing except their crop. But this wea\u00adpon is losing its power. Nature is crea\u00adting gly\u00adpho\u00adsa\u00adte-resistant weeds which spread at a bibli\u00adcal rate and grow incre\u00addi\u00adbly fast \u2013 allo\u00adwing them to quick\u00adly over\u00adpower and kill the crops. We meet far\u00admers who\u2019ve been dri\u00adven to despe\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon. No lon\u00adger able to con\u00adtrol the\u00adse \u201csuper\u00adweeds\u201d, they have no choice but to aban\u00addon huge are\u00adas of good-qua\u00adli\u00adty farm\u00adland \u2013 losing their liveli\u00adhoods in the process.<\/p>\n The film explo\u00adres poi\u00adsons such as Roundup and the ways in which they have see\u00adped into our lives: alt\u00adhough Germany is vir\u00adtual\u00adly GM-free, gly\u00adpho\u00adsa\u00adte can now be detec\u00adted in all of our bodies. Using powerful images, the film explains how the lar\u00adge-sca\u00adle appli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon of poi\u00adson is des\u00adtroy\u00ading soil bio\u00adlo\u00adgy, caus\u00ading a glo\u00adbal drop in soil fertility.<\/p>\n
