Cluj, Transylvania. After being dri\u00adven from his shel\u00adter in a house cel\u00adlar, a home\u00adl\u00adess man com\u00admits sui\u00adci\u00adde. Orsolya, the bai\u00adliff who car\u00adri\u00aded out the evic\u00adtion, is impel\u00adled to make various attempts to address her fee\u00adlings of guilt. Using a mix\u00adtu\u00adre of dra\u00adma and come\u00addy, topics as diver\u00adse as the housing cri\u00adsis, post-socia\u00adlist eco\u00adno\u00admics, natio\u00adna\u00adlism and the power of lan\u00adguage to main\u00adtain social sta\u00adtus are dis\u00adsec\u00adted with a sharp, absur\u00addist scal\u00adpel, in a movie-lite\u00adra\u00adte nar\u00adra\u00adti\u00adve that plays part\u00adly as a homage to Rossellini\u2019s Europa \u201951 \u2013 not least in the mode\u00ads\u00adty of this inde\u00adpen\u00addent, low-bud\u00adget production\u2019s means. But while in Rossellini\u2019s film a woman\u2019s cri\u00adsis of con\u00adsci\u00adence leads to meaningful acti\u00advi\u00adty, here the prot\u00adago\u00adnist facing the dilem\u00adma is unable to find any\u00adbo\u00addy to under\u00adstand her and beco\u00admes incre\u00adasing\u00adly despe\u00adra\u00adte for exter\u00adnal reassu\u00adrance and vali\u00adda\u00adti\u00adon, in a man\u00adner that would be easy to con\u00addemn if Orsolya\u2019s moral rela\u00adti\u00advism were not such an uncom\u00adfor\u00adta\u00adb\u00adly accu\u00adra\u00adte reflec\u00adtion of a modern-day malai\u00adse from which few of us are whol\u00adly immune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
