There was an eery silence after a fire had des\u00adtroy\u00aded the Moria camp com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly in September 2020. Not just local\u00adly, but in public dis\u00adcour\u00adse. The world did not seem par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar\u00adly con\u00adcer\u00adned with the inhu\u00adma\u00adne con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons in other camps on Europe\u2019s exter\u00adnal bor\u00adders or the count\u00adless push\u00adbacks in the Mediterranean. Nor did the arrest of six ado\u00adle\u00ads\u00adcents who were accu\u00adsed of arson reso\u00adna\u00adte in any audi\u00adble way \u2013 though even a second glan\u00adce at the cir\u00adcum\u00ads\u00adtances of the inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adti\u00adon and the cri\u00admi\u00adnal pro\u00adcee\u00addings reve\u00ada\u00adled the actions of the Greek judi\u00adcia\u00adry to be ques\u00adtionable. Not to men\u00adti\u00adon the under\u00adly\u00ading refu\u00adgee poli\u00adcy of the European Union.
Jennifer Mallmann dares to take this second glan\u00adce with her film. At its cent\u00adre is her cor\u00adre\u00adspon\u00addence with Hassan, one of the con\u00advic\u00adted youths, who tells her of his ever\u00ady\u00adday life, his desi\u00adres and fears from pri\u00adson.
