Songea, Tanzania. John Mbano is on a mis\u00adsi\u00adon to find the human remains of his gre\u00adat-grand\u00adfa\u00adther, Songea Mbano, who was exe\u00adcu\u00adted by the German colo\u00adni\u00adal army. The family\u2019s mour\u00adning has been pas\u00adsed down through the gene\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons at Songea\u2019s gra\u00adve in which his head never found a res\u00adt\u00ading place. Instead, it was ship\u00adped to Germany for racist rese\u00adarch. John and his wife Cesilia embark on a life-chan\u00adging jour\u00adney. Buoyed by their resi\u00adli\u00adence as they rese\u00adarch, they final\u00adly deci\u00adde to tra\u00advel to Berlin to find the remains of John\u2019s ances\u00adtor. There, they encoun\u00adter acti\u00advists who\u00adse voices are fight\u00ading Germany\u2019s cul\u00adtu\u00adre of deni\u00adal. Along with them, the Mbanos con\u00adfront tho\u00adse in power with their need to bring their ances\u00adtor home. What fol\u00adlows is a rol\u00adler\u00adco\u00adas\u00adter ride of new hopes and fami\u00adli\u00adar dis\u00adap\u00adpoint\u00adments. Even the his\u00adto\u00adric visit of the German Federal President to John\u2019s home\u00adtown fails to bring the bel\u00adoved ances\u00adtor back home. The family\u2019s search con\u00adti\u00adnues.
Das lee\u00adre Grab<\/em> offers a per\u00adso\u00adnal per\u00adspec\u00adti\u00adve: behind the glo\u00adbal deba\u00adte about the return of ances\u00adtral remains, we find real peo\u00adp\u00adle. People vio\u00adla\u00adted by a colo\u00adni\u00adal past and its after\u00admath to this day. Their strugg\u00adle paves a way to a future disen\u00adtan\u00adgled from a pain\u00adful past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
