On the final day of his shoot in Paris, German film\u00adma\u00adker Tomas is visi\u00adbly ten\u00adse. He is all stern exacti\u00adtu\u00adde as he explains to his extras just pre\u00adcis\u00ade\u00adly how to posi\u00adti\u00adon their hands or what their moti\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon is as they walk down a flight of stairs \u2013 right up until the final sla\u00adte. At the wrap par\u00adty, Tomas falls first into the arms of his British hus\u00adband Martin, but then he meets a young pri\u00adma\u00adry school tea\u00adcher, Agathe. A dance deve\u00adlo\u00adps into a flir\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon and then into a pas\u00adsio\u00adna\u00adte night tog\u00ade\u00adther. The next mor\u00adning, Tomas proud\u00adly tells Martin that he has slept with a woman. As this one-night stand grows into some\u00adthing more, the rela\u00adti\u00adonship bet\u00adween the two men beg\u00adins to chan\u00adge. A tale of rela\u00adti\u00adonships that is mark\u00aded by pas\u00adsi\u00adon, jea\u00adlou\u00adsy and nar\u00adcis\u00adsism unfolds in which each shows scant sen\u00adsi\u00adti\u00advi\u00adty for the needs of the others.
Ira Sachs\u2019 latest work, his sixth outing in Panorama<\/em>, once again pro\u00adves his talent for careful\u00adly obser\u00adved rela\u00adti\u00adonship dra\u00admas. There is a hint of French cine\u00adma and a tang of Fassbinder waf\u00adting around the three prot\u00adago\u00adnists as their per\u00adso\u00adnal wounds con\u00adstant\u00adly rede\u00adfi\u00adne the power rela\u00adti\u00adons bet\u00adween them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
