A new com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty has emer\u00adged, thir\u00adty met\u00adres abo\u00adve the ground in the tree\u00adtops of the Hambach Forest. In 2018, this site beco\u00admes the focus of cli\u00adma\u00adte poli\u00adcy dis\u00adpu\u00adtes in Germany on account of a group of peo\u00adp\u00adle who have got invol\u00adved by living in self-built tree hou\u00adses in a bid to pre\u00advent the threa\u00adten\u00aded cle\u00adarance of the forest. Film stu\u00addent Steffen Meyn docu\u00admen\u00adted the\u00adse acti\u00advists\u2019 part\u00adly peaceful, part\u00adly radi\u00adcal, part\u00adly aggres\u00adsi\u00adve strugg\u00adle against the des\u00adtruc\u00adtion of natu\u00adre over a peri\u00adod of two years with a 360-degree hel\u00admet came\u00adra. But then he fell from a tree during a poli\u00adce evic\u00adtion and died.
This docu\u00admen\u00adta\u00adry by Meyn\u2019s fri\u00adends and fel\u00adlow stu\u00addents Fabiana Fragale, Kilian Kuhlendahl and Jens M\u00fchlhoff is based on his foo\u00adta\u00adge. In their film, the protagonist\u2019s doubts come across just as cle\u00adar\u00adly as does his fri\u00adend\u00adly per\u00adse\u00adver\u00adance and his efforts to cope with the more mili\u00adtant aspects of the move\u00adment. In addi\u00adti\u00adon, the direc\u00adtors con\u00adduc\u00adted inter\u00adviews with acti\u00advists on whom the expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adces in \u201cHambi\u201d have left their mark. How far, they ask, does acti\u00advism need to go? And how far should it go?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
