Mia Hansen-L\u00f8ve\u2019s simp\u00adlest, most focu\u00adsed film in some time \u2013 and sure\u00adly her most matu\u00adre yet \u2013 returns to a recur\u00adrent the\u00adme of hers, the way that the dif\u00adfe\u00adrent strands of a life inter\u00adsect and inter\u00adfe\u00adre with each other. Here prot\u00adago\u00adnist Sandra is deal\u00ading with the rebirth of love, while con\u00adtem\u00adpla\u00adting the end of a life \u2013 her father\u2019s. She is a trans\u00adla\u00adtor and mother to an eight-year-old daugh\u00adter, Linn; her father is Georg, a distin\u00adgu\u00adis\u00adhed pro\u00adfes\u00adsor of phi\u00adlo\u00adso\u00adphy who\u00adse eye\u00adsight and his mind are fai\u00adling him irrever\u00adsi\u00adbly. While she tends to both daugh\u00adter and father, Sandra encoun\u00adters an old fri\u00adend, Cl\u00e9ment. His sci\u00aden\u00adti\u00adfic spe\u00adcia\u00adlism as a cos\u00admo\u00adche\u00admist leads him to fathom the infi\u00adni\u00adte, while Sandra\u2019s dai\u00adly con\u00adcerns seem to strand her on a strict\u00adly earth\u00adly pla\u00adne \u2013 but there\u2019s always the pro\u00admi\u00adse of love.
