For as long as they can remem\u00adber, the Sol\u00e9 fami\u00adly has spent every sum\u00admer picking the pea\u00adches in their orchard in Alcarr\u00e0s, a small vil\u00adla\u00adge in Spain\u2019s Catalonia regi\u00adon. But this year\u2019s crop may well be their last, as they face evic\u00adtion. The new plans for the land, which include cut\u00adting down the peach trees and instal\u00adling solar panels, cau\u00adse a rift in this lar\u00adge, tight-knit fami\u00adly. For the first time, they face an uncer\u00adtain future and risk losing more than their orchard.
After her beau\u00adtiful debut Summer 1993, Carla Sim\u00f3n draws again on her expe\u00adri\u00adence of rural life in the Catalan coun\u00adtry\u00adsi\u00adde, whe\u00adre human acti\u00advi\u00adty is part of a cycle gover\u00adned by sea\u00adsons in a capri\u00adcious cli\u00adma\u00adte. Family dyna\u00admics may be mud\u00addi\u00aded by eco\u00adno\u00admic con\u00adcerns, but the\u00adre are also dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adces in how each indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal rela\u00adtes to time. The youn\u00adger ones enjoy a see\u00admingly ever\u00adlas\u00adting pre\u00adsent while father bul\u00adlish\u00adly igno\u00adres the immi\u00adnent future, and grand\u00adfa\u00adther is rely\u00ading on a long-for\u00adgot\u00adten pro\u00admi\u00adse to pro\u00adve owner\u00adship of their house \u2026 This varie\u00adty is well-ser\u00adved by the natu\u00adral per\u00adfor\u00adman\u00adces of the ensem\u00adble cast and ensu\u00adres that poli\u00adti\u00adcal\u00adly rele\u00advant the\u00admes are pre\u00adsen\u00adted to us in a subt\u00adle man\u00adner. The fami\u00adly is only able to find com\u00admon ground in tra\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon, which lea\u00adves us with a genui\u00adne dis\u00adcom\u00adfort about what lies ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
