Germany is tur\u00adning away from nuclear power once and for all in 2022. The risk is too high, the tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgy unma\u00adna\u00adgeable. Yet the nuclear night\u00adma\u00adre goes on: with ump\u00adteen thou\u00adsands of ton\u00adnes of radio\u00adac\u00adti\u00adve was\u00adte, the sto\u00adrage of which isn\u2019t the least bit clear; with the hazar\u00addous dis\u00admant\u00adling of power plants which will take deca\u00addes and gob\u00adble up many bil\u00adli\u00adons of euros; and with neigh\u00adbours who firm\u00adly hold on to mankind\u2019s dream of ato\u00admic ener\u00adgy \u2013 13 of the 27 nati\u00adons in the EU<\/span> ope\u00adra\u00adte nuclear power plants and the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment the\u00adreof con\u00adti\u00adnues.
The fea\u00adture-length docu\u00admen\u00adta\u00adry film Atomkraft Forever by Carsten Rau takes a pro\u00adfound as well as alar\u00adming look at the nuclear night\u00adma\u00adre. In grand sce\u00adnes unpre\u00adce\u00adden\u00adted\u00adly por\u00adtray\u00aded, and in six inter\u00adwo\u00adven epi\u00adso\u00addes: about the absurd amount of effort invol\u00adved in demo\u00adli\u00adshing a gigan\u00adtic nuclear power plant; about the quest for a final repo\u00adsi\u00adto\u00adry that is sup\u00adpo\u00adsed to wea\u00adther a mil\u00adli\u00adon years and the next ten ice ages; into the heart of the French ato\u00admic indus\u00adtry that ridi\u00adcu\u00adles the German opt-out as \u201cludicrous\u201d and wants even more power plants.
Atomkraft Forever doesn\u2019t lea\u00adve any argu\u00adments out, even though they may be unpo\u00adpu\u00adlar. In the end, the view\u00ader can and must form their own impres\u00adsi\u00adon of the mania cal\u00adled nuclear power. That has no end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
