Somewhere in Central Europe, per\u00adhaps in the vici\u00adni\u00adty of Vienna, in the near future. Ten-year-old Elli is an android, as we soon learn. She takes shape through pro\u00adgramming and this turns her into a fan\u00adta\u00adsy figu\u00adre. Firstly for a man she calls \u201cDaddy\u201d with whom she lies by the pool and for whom she dres\u00adses up in the house at the edge of the forest. Elli is the ves\u00adsel for his memo\u00adries, which mean not\u00adhing to her, but ever\u00ady\u00adthing to him. One day he runs after a stran\u00adge echo and gets lost in the dark\u00adness while Elli, who fol\u00adlows him, is picked up by stran\u00adgers. A new iden\u00adti\u00adty awaits her, a new ghost\u00adly exis\u00adtence \u2013 as a blank screen onto which others can pro\u00adject their loss of the para\u00addi\u00adse that is child\u00adhood. Austria\u2019s new voice for the nexus bet\u00adween desi\u00adre and the abyss, fear and mys\u00adtery, fee\u00adling and emp\u00adtin\u00adess is Sandra Wollner. As in Das unm\u00f6g\u00adli\u00adche Bild<\/em>, in her pro\u00advo\u00adca\u00adti\u00adve second fea\u00adture film she deve\u00adlo\u00adps the plot from a com\u00adplex basic con\u00adstel\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon (not the other way around) and recon\u00ads\u00adtructs fami\u00adlies that never exis\u00adted. And so the machi\u00adne beco\u00admes a mir\u00adror of human emo\u00adti\u00adon, and the film a cap\u00adti\u00advat\u00ading lad\u00adder into vir\u00adtu\u00adal and psy\u00adcho\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal realities.<\/p>\n
