Where does one feel at home? In Stadtallendorf, a German city with a com\u00adplex histo\u00adry of both exclu\u00adding and inte\u00adgra\u00adting for\u00adeig\u00adners, geni\u00adal tea\u00adcher Dieter Bachmann offers his pupils the key to at least fee\u00adling as if they are at home. Aged bet\u00adween twel\u00adve and four\u00adteen, the\u00adse pupils come from twel\u00adve dif\u00adfe\u00adrent nati\u00adons; some have not quite mas\u00adte\u00adred the German lan\u00adguage. On the brink of reti\u00adre\u00adment, Bachmann is eager to inspi\u00adre the\u00adse citi\u00adzens-in-the-making with a sen\u00adse of curio\u00adsi\u00adty for a wide ran\u00adge of crafts, sub\u00adjects, cul\u00adtures and opi\u00adni\u00adons. Watching this absor\u00adbing, sen\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adve docu\u00admen\u00adta\u00adry, one is over\u00adwhel\u00admed with the rea\u00adli\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon that, if only all child\u00adren were bles\u00adsed with such emo\u00adtio\u00adnal\u00adly intel\u00adli\u00adgent, ever-pati\u00adent edu\u00adca\u00adtors, con\u00adflict would be miti\u00adga\u00adted via dis\u00adcus\u00adsion and John Lennon\u2019s \u201cImagine\u201d could be our rea\u00adli\u00adty. Those who, like film\u00adma\u00adker Maria Speth and her cine\u00adma\u00adto\u00adgrapher Reinhold Vorschneider, are able to reco\u00adg\u00adni\u00adse and high\u00adlight so beau\u00adtiful\u00adly not only the importance of edu\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon but also what a quiet\u00adly spec\u00adta\u00adcu\u00adlar pro\u00adcess it can be, are heroes in their own right, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
