One after the other they were sent away to town to work as house\u00admaids, but each of them has now retur\u00adned. The last of the sis\u00adters to do so is Nurhan. She beat the local doctor\u2019s son becau\u00adse he wet his bed every night. When Reyhan retur\u00adned home pregnant, her father hasti\u00adly mar\u00adried her off to the she\u00adp\u00adherd, Veysel. One day, the ine\u00adbria\u00adted Veysel rises up against the vil\u00adla\u00adge elder; his actions have dra\u00adma\u00adtic con\u00adse\u00adquen\u00adces. Even if the dream of a bet\u00adter future does not come true for any of the\u00adse young women and they always seem to be get\u00adting into argu\u00adments with each other, they none\u00adthel\u00adess stead\u00adfast\u00adly stick tog\u00ade\u00adther. While they wait for the snow-cover\u00aded roads to beco\u00adme pas\u00adsa\u00adble again, father and daugh\u00adters pass the time with stories.<br>\nEmin Alper, who grew up in the Anatolian moun\u00adta\u00adins hims\u00adelf, unfolds his fairy tale in haun\u00adting images. He por\u00adtrays a socie\u00adty in which neither women nor men have a chan\u00adce to break their pre\u00adde\u00adter\u00admi\u00adned cycle, and yet he still lea\u00adves room
