As a child I thought the who\u00adle world loo\u00adked like this. Holes with vil\u00adla\u00adges in bet\u00adween, my swing in the midd\u00adle. And the trains. They are coal trains.\u201d<\/p>\n Gerhard Gundermann (1955\u20131998), sin\u00adger-song\u00adwri\u00adter, poet and excava\u00adtor ope\u00adra\u00adtor in the Lusatian brown coal mines. In this regi\u00adon, glo\u00adbal pro\u00adblems are con\u00adden\u00adsed on a local level as if by a bur\u00adning glass \u2013 from struc\u00adtu\u00adral chan\u00adge to cli\u00adma\u00adte cri\u00adsis. Mostly unpu\u00adblished archi\u00adve mate\u00adri\u00adal and Gundermann\u2019s songs enter into a dia\u00adlo\u00adgue with obser\u00adva\u00adtions and con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adons in his \u201cdis\u00adtrict\u201d, accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by the voice-over of the direc\u00adtor, who is no less deep\u00adly roo\u00adted in the coal mining dis\u00adtrict. Home and its des\u00adtruc\u00adtion through strip mining, uto\u00adpian ide\u00adas and the ques\u00adti\u00adon of indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal respon\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty run through the songs, as do their con\u00adse\u00adquen\u00adces for gain\u00adful employ\u00adment and the envi\u00adron\u00adment at the end of the indus\u00adtri\u00adal age.
