\u2018<\/span>Tell them you\u2019re 24\u2019, advi\u00adses Petrunya\u2019s mother as her daugh\u00adter heads off to ano\u00adther inter\u00adview. But Petrunya is 31; moreo\u00adver, she has stu\u00addi\u00aded histo\u00adry, a sub\u00adject that no one in Macedonia seems to need. So the\u00adre she sits in front of her poten\u00adti\u00adal employ\u00ader, a fac\u00adto\u00adry owner, who looks down on her flo\u00adral dress and refu\u00adses to take her serious\u00adly. On her way home \u2013 natu\u00adral\u00adly, she did not get the job \u2013 Petrunya deci\u00addes to take the plun\u00adge. It is Epiphany and, like every year, the young men of the city are diving for the holy cross that the priest has thrown into the icy river. This time, Petrunya is quicker than ever\u00adyo\u00adne else and ends up hol\u00adding the tro\u00adphy aloft for the TV<\/span> came\u00adras. For one who\u00adle day and one night, she will defend the cross, accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by much public com\u00admo\u00adti\u00adon and against the clo\u00adsed ranks of the male world.
\nTeona Strugar Mitevska deli\u00advers an angry yet melan\u00adcho\u00adlic sati\u00adre that ques\u00adti\u00adons the sta\u00adtus of demo\u00adcra\u00adtic chan\u00adge in Macedonian socie\u00adty and pas\u00adses scathing jud\u00adge\u00adment on repre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adti\u00adves of the church, the judi\u00adcia\u00adry and the media. The film\u2019s sym\u00adpa\u00adthies are all with the deter\u00admi\u00adned woman who asserts hers\u00adelf against archaic tra\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons and para\u00adly\u00adzing opportunism.<\/p>\n
